Lino Cut Portrait

We have come to one of my favorite projects in Art I, an intro to printmaking using Linoleum.
The process of carving a stamp of positive and negative space to create a stamp that you can print multiples of. Printmaking has been a long process to create invitations, flyers, pamphlets and multiples of many things throughout history.

Your Assignment:

You are going to find a portrait of a person, you will then use the graphite transfer method shown in class to trace and transfer the image to your linoleum. You will then trace the transfer with sharpie.
Once the image is on your linoleum in sharpie you will begin carving the linoleum that is not black.
Remember what you leave on the stamp is what is going to print.
Once you have completed the carving of the linoleum you will do 10 practice prints on the smaller pieces of paper provided.
You will then complete a final composition of multiples in the style of Andy Warhol.
You will be graded on your final composition's creativity, craftsmanship and use of color.
Lastly you will print a copy of your stamp on the sticker paper and stick it to the door in the classroom.

Extra Credit: If you use a image of your own creation, nothing appropriated from the internet or any other media source.
